Brân Craft Studio is located in magical North-Wales and is founded by Laura van der Velden and Henk Niermans. In December 2016 Laura discovered her new crafting love when trying out using Henk’s soldering pen to make some Christmas presents for friends. From that moment she was hooked for life.
In summer 2017 she was able to buy a professional pyrography machine and some wooden blanks due to a small inheritance from her Nan. After seeing her work, a close friend asked the couple when the Christmas stock was ready and both being entrepreneurs they started Brân Craft Studio.
As Laura has always been fascinated by crows and ravens and has a deep love for Wales and its Celtic history, it was only natural for her to choose Brân for the business name as this means crow or raven in the Welsh language & Celtic mythology.
Nature and its magic is a huge inspiration as expected from living in the magical countryside of Wales. She also draws inspiration from everyday living, movies, books, music, Welsh blankets and the rich Celtic history and art.
Being a therapist and helping other people with their health Laura is aware of how important it is to look after her health and work & life balance. Crafting is one of her favourite ways to recharge her batteries, so she’s ready for her clients to help to renew theirs.
All our products are lovingly hand burned. Some will receive colouring via pyrography, painting or pencils done by Laura or Henk. Some pencil colouring is done by Laura using her Nan’s water colouring pencils. Each item is unique due to the wood that is being used, and because they are hand burned and coloured.
Most of our products have three layers of sturdy and waterproof varnish to protect them and make them easy to wipe clean.
All the products will leave Brân Craft Studio with a blessing to spread love, joy and happiness to the new owners to help create their heaven on earth.
We use high-quality sycamore blanks which are grown in the UK. The blanks (items ready for pyrography) are sourced from a regular “green” provider, meaning that for each tree cut down another is being planted back to regrown. Next, we also have the UK & European birch plywood and pine. All items are cut and made in the UK.
