Henk is a craftsman who takes great pride in preparing materials for Laura, a skilled pyrographer. Henk spends hours sawing, sanding, and adding profiles to the wooden items, ensuring that they are smooth and ready to be decorated. Once the items are ready, Laura uses her pyrography skills to create beautiful designs on the wood. She carefully uses her wood-burning tool to create intricate patterns and adds watercolour or paint to give her creations even more depth and beauty. Every project that Henk and Laura work on together is a masterpiece, borne of their passion and dedication to their craft.

Eco-Friendly
The blanks (items ready for pyrography) are, where possible, sourced from a regular “green” provider, meaning that for each tree cut down another is being planted back to regrown. Next, we also have the UK & European birch or poplar plywood and pine. All items are cut and made in the UK.

As an Intuitive Healer, Laura weaves love, healing, magic, and beauty into all the items she makes. Her creations are infused with positive energy and intention, intended to uplift and inspire. Laura approaches her creations with mindfulness and care, channelling her intuition to create items that are uniquely tailored to the needs of each individual.
Whether Laura is using pyrography on candleholders, boxes, ornaments or knitting socks, she infuses it with her own special magic, creating something that is both beautiful and transformative. Through her creations, Laura is able to share her gifts with the world and help others to connect with their own innate healing power.

Brân Craft Studio is located in magical Welsh Borders and is founded by Laura van der Velden and Henk Niermans. In December 2016 Laura discovered her new crafting love when trying out Henk’s soldering pen to make some Christmas presents for friends. From that moment she was hooked for life.
In summer 2017 she was able to buy a professional pyrography machine and some wooden blanks thanks to a small inheritance from her Nan. She also inherited her Nan’s watercolour pencils and used them to decorate the items.
After seeing her work, a close friend asked the couple when the Christmas stock was ready and, both being entrepreneurs, they started Brân Craft Studio. As Laura has always been fascinated by crows and ravens and has a deep love for Wales and its Celtic history, it was only natural for her to choose Brân for the business name as this means crow or raven in the Welsh language & Celtic mythology.
Nature and its magic is a huge inspiration as expected from living in the magical countryside of Wales. She also draws inspiration from everyday living, movies, books, music, Welsh blankets and the rich Celtic history and art.

Laura is a talented artist who loves to create beautiful things with her hands. In addition to her impressive pyrography skills, she also enjoys knitting since 2003. She finds knitting to be a very relaxing and rewarding activity and loves to experiment with different yarns and patterns.
Laura’s hand-knitted items are truly one-of-a-kind. She creates everything from cosy scarves and hats to intricate jumpers. Her attention to detail and dedication to quality ensures that each piece is not only beautiful but also functional and durable.
One of Laura’s favourite projects is knitting socks, which she began doing for herself and her partner Henk in 2012.
